“To enrich by giving, educating, and empowering the community through job readiness programs, health awareness, while combating hunger and homelessness.”
We facilitate annual Fountain Community Health Fair where individuals and families can attain free preventive health screenings for diabetes, high cholesterol, Cancer and HIV. During the fair, individuals and families are also connected to community health partners and support services that can further assist them as health issues are discovered. Education through preventive health related workshops is also provided during the fair, thus educating our community members and increasing health awareness.
We combat hunger by qualifying the most needy community members for free monthly, year round food distribution from the Fountain Food Pantry, with locations in Upper Marlboro, Beltsville and Glenarden. Individuals that are part of our food pantry program are automatically qualifed to participate in our job readiness and training support progams, which will increase their earning potential, thus helping them to graduate out of the recipient bracket.
We combat homelessness by collaborating with state agencies that provide the needed assistance to homeowners against the threat of foreclosure, through certified housing counselors, links to financial institutions, relocation assistance, and other alternative options.
To combat homelessness, we are working towards the construction of The House of Restoration, which when completed, will provide housing relief for up to 36 battered women. Individuals that enter the House of Restoration will be supported with job readiness, career planning, financial management courses, as well as educational programs that can help them reestablish themselves while working towards a more prosperous and secure life.
Community Giveaways are organized yearly to help lessen the burden of financial hardship on struggling families. This is achieved through Joy of Giving community events. Joy of Giving provides children toys for Christmas, clothing, and small household items to needy families.
